1) What is multiple fission?
Answer: Multiple fission is the method if asexual reproduction in which a parent organism splits into more than two daughter organisms at the same time.


2) What is vegetative propagation?
Answer: Vegetative propagation is the method of asexual reproduction in which new plants are produced by cutting, sowing or grafting of the vegetative parts of plants like root, stem or leaves.


3) Name the plant that reproduce through root.
Answer: Dahlia is a plant that reproduce through root.


4) Write the name of each of the plant propagated through root, and leaf.
Answer: Root → Sweet Potato
                Leaf → Bryophyllum


5) What is sexual reproduction?
Answer: The complex process in which reproduction takes place by the fusion of male gamete and female gamete is called sexual reproduction. This process is common in higher plants and animals.


6) What is flower?
Answer: A flower is the most attractive part of a plant which helps in sexual reproduction.


7) What is fertilization?
Answer: Fertilization is the process of fusion of a male gamete and a female gamete to form a zygote.


8) What is self-fertilization?
Answer: The process of transfer of pollen grains from anther to the stigma of a flower where external agents of pollination are not requires is called self-pollination.


9) What is androecium?
Answer: Androecium is the third whorl of a flower which consists of male organs called stamen.


10) What is calyx? Write down its major function.
Answer: Calyx is the outermost whorl of a flower which is made of green sepals. Its major function is to protect the bud stage of a flower.

11) What is the major function of stamen?
Answer: The major function of stamen is to produce pollen grains.


12) What is pollination?
Answer: Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from anther to stigma of a flower.


13) Write down the function of cytokinin and auxin.
Answer: The function of cytokinin is to enhance the growth of root system and that of auxin is to enhance the growth of shoot system.


14) What is an embryo?
Answer: Embryo is defined as a young plant or animal in the very early stage of development before birth or before coming out of its seed or egg.


15) Write the name of parts of a flower that change into seed and fruit after fertilization.
Answer: The part of a flower that changes into seed is ovule and that changes into fruit is ovary after fertilization.


16) How many chromosomes are there in human sperm and zygote?
Answer: There are 23 chromosomes in human sperm and 23 pairs of chromosomes in human zygote.


17) What is layering?
Answer: The process of growing new plants by developing roots on the branches of parent plant is called layering.


18) Name any two plants in which simple layering is applied?
Answer: Any two plants in which simple layering is applied is citrus and lemon.


19) What is simple layering?
Answer: Simple layering process of burying the flexible stem of a plant into the soil to develop roots in it.


20) Name any two plants which are propagated artificially by tip layering.
Answer: Any two plants that are propagated artificially by tip layering are raspberry and blackberry.


21) Name any five plants that are propagated artificially by stool layering or mound layering.
Answer: Any five plants that are propagated artificially by stool layering or mound layering are mango, guava, apple, peach and plum.


22) Define stock and scion.
Answer: The plant whose shoot system is taken for grafting is called scion and the plant whose roots system is used for grafting is called stock.

Syllabus of PCL Nursing by CTEVT Nepal Government has adopted a national policy for the attainment of health "Health for all beyond the Year 2000 A.D." through the use of primary health care approach. As a result CTEVT got the mandate to produce middle level trained workforce through CTEVT as well as CTEVT affiliated institutions.
