Answer: Two chief ores of iron are as follows:
    (i) Haematite (Fe₂O₃) [Principal ore]
    (ii) Magnetite (Fe₃O₄).


4) Which metal is extracted from Bauxite or Felspar?
Answer: Aluminium is extracted from Bauxite or Felspar.


5) Name the main ore of calcium. Where is calcium found in Nepal?
Answer:  The main ore of calcium is limestone. Calcium is mainly found in Kathmandu, Udayapur, Dhading and Makwanpur districts.


6) Where are magnesium and cobalt found in Nepal?
Answer:  Magnesium is found in Udayapur and Dolakha districts. Similarly, cobalt is found in Palpa and Gulmi districts.


7) Write down the main ore of magnesium and cobalt.
Answer: The main ore of magnesium is magnetite and that of cobalt is cobaltite.


8) Write a short note on occurrence of gold in nature.
Answer: Gold is a noble metal which is mostly found in pure state. It is generally found in quartz veins or alluvial soil and calverite (AuTe).


9) In what group and period does gold lie in the modern periodic table?
Answer: In modern periodic table, gold les in group IB and 6th period.


10) What are the atomic number and atomic weight of silver?
Answer: The atomic number of silver is 47 and its atomic weight is 107.88 amu.

Answer: Any two physical properties of silver are as follows:
    (i) It is a shiny white metal.
    (ii) It is a very good conductor of heat and electricity.


12) Which metal is obtained from the ore argentite?
Answer: Silver can be extracted from argentite ore.


13) Write down the electronic configuration of gold in the modern periodic table.
Answer: The electronic configuration of gold are as follows:

14) What is aqua-regia?
Answer: Aqua regia is the mixture of 3 part of conc. HCl and 1 part of Conc HNO₃.


15) How is aqua-regia prepared?
Answer: Aqua-regia is preapred by mixing 3 part of conc. HCl and 1 part of Conc HNO₃ carefully.


16) Name the metals which can be extracted from the ores Argentite and chalcopyrite.
Answer: Silver can be extracted from Argentite and copper can be extracted from chalcopyrite.


17) Write any two physical properties of gold.
Answer: Any two physical properties of gold are:
    (i) Gold is a lustrous yellow colored metal.
    (ii) It is very good conductor of heat and electricity.
