And here we go,

Q.11) What is Earthing? Write.

Answer: Earthing is a type of electrical system of connecting a wire with ground which mainly passes the leakage current and excessive current to the earth and to prevent from electric shock.

Q.12) What is M.C.B.? Also write the full form.

Answer: An automatically operated electrical switch which breaks the electrical circuit when excess of electricity passes through it, to prevent from the damaging of electrical appliances.

Its full form is Miniature Circuit Breaker.

Q.13) Name the chemical which is used to remove polarization.

Answer: The chemicals which are used to remove polarization is the concentrated solution of Potassium Dichromate (K₂Cr₂O₇) and Manganese dioxide (MnO₂).

Q.14) Why is fuse used in household wiring system?

Answer: Fuse is used in household wiring system to prevent from damaging of electrical appliances from sudden increase in voltage. Fuse prevents such events by breaking electrical circuit.

Q.15) Which type of connection of electrical devices are done in house wiring system?

Answer: Parallel connection of electrical devices are done in house wiring system. It helps to run electrical devices separately.

Q.16) Why M.C.B. is more beneficial than fuse?

Answer: M.C.B. is protective device which protects the overflow of current. It can break the circuit within very short interval of time (25 mili-seconds) as compared to fuse. Also, the M.C.B. is reusable as we can lift the switch after repairing the fault.

So, M.C.B. is more useful than fuse.

Q.17) Why there is no polarization in a dry cell?

Answer: In a dry cell, a paste of Manganese dioxide (MnO₂) is used as depolarizer. Inside the cell, Manganese dioxide reacts with hydrogen to form water. So, there is no deposition of hydrogen gas for the polarization.

Q.18) In series combination, a lamp glows more brightly when the number of cells goes on increasing. Why?

Answer: As the number of cells goes on increasing in series combination, the current also increases and it increases the brightness of the bulb.

Q.19) The two glass rods rubbed with fur, repel each other. Why?

Answer: When the glass rods are rubbed with a fur then similar charges are developed in these glass rods. Thus, they repel each other.

Q.20) We get electric shock as we touch a naked electric wire. Why?

Answer: We get an electric shock as we touch a naked electric wire. It is because our body acts a good conductor and current can pass through it causing an electric shock.
