4) What is kinetochore?
Answer: The centromere of a chromosome is called kinetochore.


5) Write down the major function of genes.
Answer: The major function of genes is to transmit hereditary characteristics from one generation to another.


6) What is a sex-linked disease?
Answer: The disease which occurs only in a particular sex (either male or female) is called a sex linked disease.


7) What is sex chromosome?
Answer: The chromosome that determine the sex of an organism is called sex chromosome.


8) Write any two examples of chromosomal disorder.
Answer: Any two examples of chromosomal disorder are:
    (i) Down's syndrome
    (ii) Klinfelter's syndrome


9) What is metacentric chromosome?
Answer: The chromosome having centromere in the middle and equal arms is called 
metacentric chromosome.


10) Write down any two effects seen from klinfelter's disorder.
Answer: The two effects seen due to Klinfelter's disorder are as follows:
    (i) Infertility and growth of breasts in male.
    (ii) Tall stature and small genitals.

11) What is sub-metacentric chromosome?
Answer: The chromosome having centromere towards side of the chromatid is called sub-metacentric chromosome.


12) What is acrocentric chromosome?
Answer: The chromosome having one arm long and another arm short is called acrocentric chromosome.


13) What sex chromosomes are found in male and female?
Answer: The sex chromosomes found in males are XY and the sex chromosomes found in females are XX.


14) What are chromosomes made of?
Answer: Chromosomes are made of DNA and protein.


15) What are chromosomes?
Answer: Chromosomes are thread like microscopic structures present in the nucleus of the cell.
